Give Me Tap’s slogan is ‘Water
for you. Water for Everyone.’ because every
bottle you purchase helps give water to a person in Africa.
Their mission is to make clean drinking water
available to every human in the world. It is clearly a huge
challenge, but together we can change the lives of millions.
Arguably the UK has the world’s highest quality drinking water available
to hand. However, social barriers still exist to access and consume water ‘on
the go’ such as the mild stigma attached to asking for tap water in commercial
environments. Outside the UK, close to
800 million people globally still do not have access to clean drinking water.
Diseases from unsafe water and lack of
basic sanitation kill more people every year than all forms of violence,
including war (source). Being from Ghanaian parents, and
observing first-hand the impacts that the lack of water had on people, Edwin
Broni-Mensah wanted to help. To do this, he created GiveMeTap in 2010 during
the final year of his PhD in Mathematics.
Give Me Tap created a reusable bottle that can change the world. The
GiveMeTap bottle enables you to get free water from a network of cafes and
restaurants and helps another person in Africa get access to water. Every

boreholes/wells. With every two GiveMeTap bottles you purchase, you can give
