Run 3K for Freedom TODAY!

Morning all! It's a gorgeous day today and we're in the final stages of setting up and propping for the Run3KforFreedom event ( https://www.facebook.com/events/169281416569486/ ) that my friend Sharmila has organised!

Run3KforFreedom is a 3km run (or you can jog or walk) to raise awareness and money for the work of The A21 Campaign's incredible fight against human trafficking and modern day slavery (http://www.thea21campaign.org/ )! There are more slaves today than there have ever been (and some of them are right around the corner from where we live!), so we are very proud to be able to work with them to put an end to modern day slavery and human trafficking in the 21st century!

You can join us this afternoon either in Page's wood to run/jog/walk, or to spectate/support. There will also be cakes and A21 Campaign materials on sale: https://www.facebook.com/events/169281416569486/

Or you can show your support for our runners and this incredibly important cause by sponsoring us online: http://www.justgiving.com/run3kforfreedom  - All proceeds will go to The A21 Campaign, which is tirelessly fighting for the freedom of those trapped in modern day slavery!

Blessings!

Walk Free // Sign a Petition for Freedom!

Across the globe, an estimated 20.9 million people are currently living in modern slavery. Stripped of their dignity and humanity; forced to work effectively without pay; trapped behind bars and worse. The world’s most vulnerable sentenced to a lifetime of rape, abuse and extreme labor.
Those who perpetuate modern slavery count on our silence to drive their profits. They survive on secrecy and stigma. Without the attention of world leaders, they have been able to enslave more people today than at any point in history.

If we take a stand now, we can make ending slavery a global priority, ensuring those trapped in the silent web of slavery are not ignored.

I believe our generation can build a world without slavery.

A world where it is unthinkable for one human being to be treated like someone else’s property.

A world where those who coerce or deceive people into forced labor or steal other people's freedoms are brought to justice.

A world where everyone can walk free.

I commit to mobilise governments, businesses and communities to end modern slavery.

Morden vicar set to cycle across Europe for anti-slavery charity

Did you know that human trafficking is the second-fastest growing criminal industry in the world? Now is the time to abolish slavery, in all its many forms, once and for all. (US TIP Report)

The A21 Campaign promoted the following article today:

Rev Gav Murray, minister of Morden Baptist Church, in Crown Lane, Morden, will be pedalling 2,500km across mainland Europe for the Zoe Challenge.
The challenge is named after one of the first girls rescued by British anti-human trafficking charity Hope for Justice.
Zoe was trafficked into the UK for sexual exploitation, suffering from violence at the hands of her controllers.
Mr Murray will be joined by CEO of the charity Ben Cooley and former Emmerdale star Tom Lister.

The team will cross six countries, taking on a gruelling trip from Riga, Latvia to the Dutch port of Rotterdam.
Church members Tim Pollen, Andrew Sadler and Sam Young will join in the ride from Hull to Southampton, arriving in June 1 for an end party.
Mr Murray said: "Hearing Zoe’s shocking story and realising this goes on in the UK inspired me to help Hope for Justice rescue victims of human trafficking.
"That’s why I’m going through the pain barrier for three weeks to raise £15,000."

I was really challenged again by this story that it really is not simply in sympathy, but through action that we can actually change the world! I am helping my friend Sharmila with her Run3KForFreedom event on 6th July in support of The A21 Campaign- support this online by donating here or get involved! Research local events in your area and get involved with fundraising and raising awareness today!

Blessings!
