Ethical Superstore

Today's post is about an online shop called Ethical SuperstoreWhether you're new to the idea of ethically-conscious buying or you're very passionate about a whole range of ethical issues that affect what you buy, those values are personal to everyone at Ethical Superstore. They have a range of ethical suppliers that are grateful that you want to support all forms of ethical purchasing – their aim is to empower their customers to make the choices that are ethical and right for them and their family.

There is still a long way to go in order to make Ethical Consumerism a daily part of the retail mainstream and they encourage customers to help them to spread the message across to the rest of UK society by encouraging family and friends to try ethical products and to buy what they believe in.

Aligning your buying with your beliefs can be confusing, so they do their best to share product background information to help you make informed ethical buying choices. The background to the products they sell must be transparent and they are committed to researching their ethical credentials and researching questions that you may have about them.

Oxfam: Mother’s Day Gifts

Mother’s Day is just around the corner in the UK and I bet many of you are starting to fret about what to get your mums! I have already bought my mum something that I know she wants, but I also want to get her something that is meaningful and representative of the incredible person that she is.

My mum is really amazing- she is an incredibly loving parent, one of my best friends and a phenomenal teacher. I am by no stretch of the imagination the only person that would agree with all of those statements, but countless people that she has actually taught will testify that she was/is their favourite teacher and that she is unlike any other teacher they have ever met. My mum sees teaching as her true calling and she pours her life into the children that she works with, so I thought to myself, what better way to celebrate this than to give a gift in her name that will continue this legacy with children she has never even met. I knew exactly how: Oxfam Unwrapped gifts!

I am purchasing a gift based around educating children and training up teachers in countries where education is a privilege, not a right.

Make Mother's Day extra-special with an Oxfam Unwrapped gift: you can either choose any gift from their hand-picked selection for mums, or check out our full range to find something really personal. You can pay for these gifts in cash. Your second option is also to use your Nectar points to purchase an Oxfam Unwrapped gift, which costs you absolutely nothing (apart from giving up your discounts and bonuses that you have earned through using your Nectar card).

So go online and support incredibly worthy causes to help change lives on behalf of your Mum! If she is anything like my mum, she will love this gift!

Blessings!

Forward Edge: Ordinary People with Extraordinary Purpose

Forward Edge International exists to share Christ’s love with those affected by poverty, disaster and sickness in the U.S. and around the world. By mobilizing hundreds of people each year to participate firsthand in their long-term, need-meeting projects, they help to empower individuals, churches, campus fellowships and businesses to be "the hands and feet of Jesus" in a world desperate for His touch.

To illustrate their mission, Forward Edge founder and president, Joseph Anfuso, often tells the story of a man with a bucket of water approaching a building engulfed in flames. Near the building is a row of sleeping firemen. The man must make a choice: Does he throw his bucket on the building, or on the row of firemen? Forward Edge International has made its choice: they are waking up the firemen!

Forward Edge International ‘wakes up the firemen’ and addresses urgent needs around the world by mobilizing volunteers to help initiate and sustain long-term projects and relationships. They believe everyone should have an opportunity to change a life.

Forward Edge mobilises hundreds of volunteers each year to alleviate suffering through disaster-response work, health care projects and programs for vulnerable children. Since 1983, more than 15,000 volunteers have served with Forward Edge in 35 nations, including the U.S.

So what does partnership with Forward Edge International offer?
Life-changing Adventures—individuals are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and into a deeper and more meaningful relationship with God.
Decades of experience— they have been organizing short-term mission trips since 1983!
Long-term ministry partnerships—deep relationships built on trust with key ministries in the locations they serve.
Customized Trips—plan a trip that matches the gifting and calling of your team.
Training and administrative support—proven training materials and complete logistical coordination before and throughout your trip.
On-site, knowledgeable Field Staff—dedicated servants who support your group leader(s), ensuring all your team’s needs are met while on-site.
Worldwide service opportunities—we have relationships throughout the world and can help you answer God’s call.

No matter who you are, where you live, or in what stage of life you currently find yourself, God can use you! Get in touch with Forward Edge International and let them know how God has called you to reach out to those in need and they will do all they can to help you meet that calling.

Here are some ways of how you can help:

Cool People Care

Back in 2006 B.T. (before Twitter), the founders of Cool People Care had an idea: finding a way to easily connect people who want to do good with nonprofit organisations and community ideas that are changing the world. From there, they began the process of launching a lifestyle brand dedicated to helping people find meaning, do good, and save their small corner of the world.
For the last six years, Cool People Care have been sharing at least one idea each weekday about how you can make a difference in your local community, online, or in the world at large. They also help causes and charities raise money with their line of inspirational and socially-responsible T-shirts and posters.
Cool People Care aim to be the first place people go when they're ready to have an impact on the world. From stuff you can do at home to ways you can save the world with a group of friends, from cool T-shirts to online activism, they've got you covered. Basically, Cool People Care is aiming to be THE online destination for anyone who wants to make a difference.

In order to do that, they launched our website, CoolPeopleCare.org in 2006. Since then, they've been sharing one small and meaningful way to make a difference each weekday. And, so that they can help people connect even more deeply with causes that matter, they offer a complete line of eco-friendly and inspirational merchandise. In their online store, you can find organic T-shirts and awesome posters. Each is designed to look great so you'll wear and display it. And, when you buy it, money will be sent to an organisation or cause that is making a difference in some way.
In order to do that, Cool People Care has established The Cool Fund in 2012. When a certain item in the online store (like a shirt, poster, or book) does not have an earmarked organisation or initiative, Cool People Care will donate a certain amount per item to The Cool Fund. You can find out how much they donate per item in plain English on individual product pages.
The Cool Fund is a special account at Cool People Care that is used to spur community innovation all across the world. Money from this fund is spent on an as-needed basis, most often to spread new, proven ideas in the nonprofit sector. It can also be used to launch new programs, particularly those related to social entrepreneurship.
To learn more about The Cool Fund - or to discuss ways Cool People Care can help you launch new ideas that save the world - contact Sam Davidson, President of Cool People Care.

So basically, Cool People Care are committed to helping you care, whether you're reading something online, or shopping for a new shirt. So browse around their store. Sign up for our daily emails. Tell your friends about them.
Their bottom line? Just remember - it's cool to care.
Blessings!
