Blessings!

Make Mercy a Way of Life

God has really been putting it on my heart lately about being more merciful and having more grace for others. Reading this passage by Joyce this afternoon, really reiterated that for me! I hope it helps you too to just take a second before judging others.

Blessings!

Make Mercy a Way of Life

by Joyce Meyer - posted June 09, 2013

It is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His [tender] compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness. —Lamentations 3:22-23
Aren’t you thankful for God’s abundant mercy? It is new every morning. Surely we would all live miserable, defeated lives if it were not for His compassion and willingness to forgive us.
When we meditate on God’s mercy and truly realize how much He willingly forgives us, we can much more easily show mercy to others. Good relationships are impossible unless we are generous with mercy and forgiveness. Being merciful simply means forgiving others even though their actions would warrant our anger.
Jesus said that we are to forgive our enemies and be kind. In this way we show ourselves to be like our Father in heaven, for He is merciful and kind.
God’s mercy is new every morning, and I am glad—because I am sure I use my allotted portion every day. I am grateful for a new, fresh start each day. When we make mistakes, He does not want us to try to sacrifice to make up for them. When others hurt or offend us, He wants us to extend mercy to them.
Learn to give and receive mercy regularly; and let mercy become a way of life for you.
Love Others Today: God’s mercies are new for you right now! Receive the mercy He has for you and extend mercy to everyone around you.

Don't Give Up- Press On!

Press On

by Joyce Meyer - posted May 20, 2013

That night the Lord said to Gideon, Take your father’s bull, the second bull seven years old, and pull down the altar of Baal that your father has and cut down the Asherah [symbol of the goddess Asherah] that is beside it; and build an altar to the Lord your God on top of this stronghold with stones laid in proper order. —Judges 6:25–26
History is filled with people who accomplished great things even though they had to persevere past the criticism and judgment of others. Some of the world’s greatest inventors were persecuted by their family or friends, but they pressed on because they believed in what they were doing.
Benjamin Franklin longed to write for his older brother’s newspaper where he worked as a printing apprentice, but his brother refused to let him. Ben wrote stories anyway, under a pen name, Silence Dogood. Every letter was snuck under the printing shop’s door at night to avoid discovery, and “Silence Dogood” became wildly popular. When Ben finally admitted that he was the writer who was getting so much attention, his brother only grew angrier and more jealous. This resulted in Ben receiving beatings and finally running away.
Among the many inventions and improvements he created in his lifetime, Ben eventually started his own printing shop and took over a newspaper, the Pennsylvania Gazette, which under his supervision became the most successful in the colonies.
Lord, strengthen me in my inner being to be able to persevere against adversity. I can move forward confidently if I know it is Your way. Amen.

Light Shines Through Cracked Pots

Jeannie Morgan from Soul Survivor is visiting re:generation church again tomorrow (11th May 2013) for an inner healing session... I am bracing myself because I know how painful it can be to go through the process of feeling your stored up/suppressed pain again, but I am excited more than anything to see how God will move in my life and the lives of others again, knowing the incredible knock-on effect that this will have!

If you are in the able to come, please do!

Blessings!

Light Shines Through Cracked Pots

by Joyce Meyer - posted May 10, 2013

Let not those who wait and hope and look for You, O Lord of hosts, be put to shame through me; let not those who seek and inquire for and require You [as their vital necessity] be brought to confusion anddishonor through me, O God of Israel. —Psalm 69:6
Everyone is like a pot that carries life. But not everyone carries a presence that blesses others. Religion tries to force people to follow laws to make them perfect, like pots without cracks. But if a light is put within a flawless pot and then covered, no one is able to see the light inside the pot. Perfect pots are not able to reveal internal light to illumine the way for others.
God chooses to shine through imperfect, cracked pots. People are blessed when our cracked pots let the light of Jesus shine through. Choose to be a glory-filled, cracked pot rather than an empty, pretty vessel.

Love Aggressively // Give Sacrificially

I read this tonight and the example below of a "free gift" really resonated with me. You never know how much a gift you make to someone (no matter how small) might mean to them; and you don't know whether it is a precise answer to prayer for them! So keep your spiritual ears open to God's promptings about what/how/when/to who He wants you to give. So this is the challenge posed by Joyce Meyer: love aggressively and give sacrificially!

Blessings!

Love Aggressively

by Joyce Meyer - posted May 04, 2013

This is My commandment: that you love one another [just] as I have loved you. No one has greater love [no one has shown stronger affection] than to lay down (give up) his own life for his friends. —John 15:12-13
As the children of God, we must love others as God loves us. And that means aggressively—and sacrificially.
Love is an effort. We will never love anybody if we are not willing to pay the price. One time I gave a woman a nice pair of earrings. My flesh wanted to keep them for myself, but my spirit said to be obedient to the Lord and give them away.
Later that woman stood up in a meeting and told how she had been given the earrings she was wearing as "a free gift."
The Lord spoke to me and said, "Yes, it was a free gift to her, but it cost you, just as salvation is a free gift to you but it cost Jesus His life."
Love is the greatest gift of all. When you show forth the love of God, do it freely, sacrificially—and aggressively!

Confessions of a Shopaholic

I was going through my finances today and stressing about my non-existent savings and emergency funds! After years of financially irresponsible living, I have spent the last two years trying to make ends meet and literally just scraping by (through God’s grace and miraculous provision!). I am learning my lessons and am continuously reforming to have a healthy balance financially, but it is a long, hard road for a reformed shopaholic! (seriously, I feel Rebecca Bloomwood’s pain in the film Confessions of a Shopaholic!).

I am quite content not to buy clothes and bags and shoes, etc now, but the biggest pitfall as I look back through my finances over the past year has been gifts and charity. Now, that is where I get a bit stuck… it really may not seem like a problem, after all it is good to be generous to those you love and to those in need, right? YES! Always yes! BUT herein lies the issue: is it right to spend money you do not have and to put yourself further and further into debt.. EVEN IF it is for a good cause..? Truth be told, I’m not sure!

On the one hand: my heart is for people and for doing good. On the other hand, I know that God does not want us to live beyond our means, to be irresponsible with our money. He calls us to be good stewards of what He has entrusted us with and He wants us to be prepared and able to live and to keep ourselves and our families (depends on what stage of life you are in). For me, God has challenged me to get out of debt and to live within my means. He is also preparing my heart for a hopeful future (one that includes a husband and a family), but I know that if I can’t be a faithful steward of my own finances, I won’t be able to manage a family and the financial responsibilities that go with it.

I also know that God has challenged me to be more generous. Up until recently, I really did not see how these two challenges could work together, as they seem mutually exclusive, but they can! God is showing me how to prioritise my spending, how to give more of myself and my time (generosity is not just giving financially!) and how to be prayerful in my giving.

Today, I read a post by Joyce Meyer Ministries online entitled Be Prepared! and it really challenged me: 1) about the kind of woman I want to be and 2) about how you can’t give of yourself if you are not stable and prepared enough to do so. I hope you find it useful too.

Blessings!

Be Prepared
by Joyce Meyer - posted April 13, 2013

Strength and dignity are her clothing and her position is strong and secure; she rejoices over the future [the latter day or time to come, knowing that she and her family are in readiness for it]!
—Proverbs 31:25
This woman’s strength and dignity are her clothing, and her position is strong and secure. This certainly must have increased her confidence. She isn’t afraid of losing her position or something bad happening. She boldly faces the future because she knows she and her family are prepared for it.
Proverbs 27:23 tells us: “Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, and look well to your herds.” Lack of preparation is one of the major causes for low confidence. Being prepared requires working ahead of time instead of putting things off until the last minute. Matthew 25 tells us of the five wise virgins who took extra oil with them as they waited for the bridegroom to come, but the five foolish virgins didn’t do anything to prepare. When the bridegroom was delayed, the foolish lost their opportunity to meet the bridegroom.
This same scenario happens to many people in life. They procrastinate until it is too late to take advantage of an opportunity that could have been a tremendous blessing to them. Knowing you are prepared for whatever comes will increase your confidence in an amazing way.
Lord, help me to be diligent and prepared for the opportunities You will bring my way. I want to walk in the confidence that I am always ready to go. Amen.
